AN ORDINANCE AWARDING BID NO. 34131583-C, FOR THE SOUTH PRAIRIE LEE INTERCEPTOR SEWER AT CRYSTAL VIEW ESTATES TO WIEDENMANN INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $168,000.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR THE SAME.
Body

Key Issues:
This project will serve existing customers and development customers by upsizing two segments of sanitary sewer line which are currently at or over design capacity based on complete development of the area served by the sanitary sewer.
One of the sewer segments is being upsized to increase capacity for a new development upstream of the project located southeast of the intersection of SE Shanandoah Drive and SE Battery Drive known as "Village Cooperative".
The Developer already paid the City of Lee's Summit $81,300.00 which was the estimated cost for upsizing one sewer segment to provide service to the Village Coopererative development.

Proposed Committee Motion:
I move to recommend to the City Council approval of AN ORDINANCE AWARDING BID NO. 34131583-C, FOR THE SOUTH PRAIRIE LEE INTERCEPTOR SEWER AT CRYSTAL VIEW ESTATES TO WIEDENMANN INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $168,000.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR THE SAME.

In order to provide sanitary service to the retirement facility, the developer was required to upsize one segment of sewer line southeast of the intersection of SE 3rd Street and SE Battery Drive at an estimated cost of $81,300.

Because an additional pipe segment also needed to be improved, Water Utilities and the developer entered into an agreement whereby the developer would pay the city $81,300 for their necessary improvements and the city would then contract to have both sections improved at the same time.

This contract is for the necessary improvements to both pipe segments. ...
