FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE AWARD OF BID NO. 18532272-C FOR THE WARD ROAD IMPROVEMENTS (MO-150 TO COUNTY LINE ROAD) PROJECT TO LINAWEAVER CONSTRUCTION, INC. AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR THE SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,723,623.95.

Background:
Improvements to Ward Road were approved by voters as part of the 2007 Capital Sales Tax Renewal. This project is primarily a complete streets project that includes sidewalks, street lighting, curb and enclosed storm drains. The originally proposed roadway improvements were based upon the 2006 Thoroughfare Master Plan for Lee’s Summit, which called for a 5-lane road. Based on updated development and traffic information the currently proposed construction was reduced to a 3-lane roadway, adding curb and gutter, utility relocation, building an enclosed storm drain, street lighting, pavement markings, sidewalks and ADA compliance.
