Discussion: Targeted Industries
Key Issues:
The CEDC would like to discuss current Targeted Businesses and Industries as identified in the Economic Development Incentive Policy (EDIP), Ignite Comprehensive Plan, and Ignite Strategic Plan.
Background:
The strategic direction provided by the EDIP identifies professional services, science and technology industries, healthcare, manufacturing, the arts, and entrepreneurship as targeted businesses. Additionally, to be considered a targeted business the business shall help create an environment where work opportunities exist to support family households.
The Ignite Comprehensive Plan identified high growth potential industries as healthcare, manufacturing, and professional scientific and technical services.
The Lee's Summit Economic Development Council conducted an Economic Development Market Study through North Star Destination Strategies in 2015. This study provided an overview of the Lee's Summit business community and identified targeted industries to include health and medical, animal health science, data centers, manufacturing and distribution, aerospace, and office/headquarters.
