Body
Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving an agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Xybix for the purchase of dispatching consoles, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same of on behalf the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Key Issues:
The Police Dispatch Center currently has a total of 10 dispatching consoles. The initial design included eight consoles. In 2021 the Police Department underwent a renovation. Through that process we expanded and added two new dispatching consoles. The original eight are ten years old and at their end of life. Due to budget constraints during the renovation they were not updated.
Each dispatch console is standardized with respect to equipment and furniture. The dispatching console allows the dispatcher to arrange the work station to an individual preference. The equipment is designed to easily move so a dispatcher can stand or sit depending on the individual. Climate control in each console can be specific to the individual dispatcher. This is important from an employee wellness standpoint over the course of a twelve hour shift. Replacing the original eight consoles will also return standardization and uniformity to the dispatch console platform.
This ordinance authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Axon to provide new equipment, support, warranty coverage, training, de-escalation training, cartridges, and wireless maintenance for a five-year subscription.
Proposed City Council Motion:
