This item is intended to provide the Committee with an update on the current state of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in Lee's Summit. The attached memorandum summarizes the history of the City's ADU ordinance, reviews the current regulations and ADU activity since adoption, and discusses factors that may be limiting broader implementation, including homeowners' association restrictions, financing challenges, construction costs, and existing development standards. The discussion is intended to facilitate a conversation with the Committee, solicit feedback on the current ADU program, and seek guidance on potential next steps or other opportunities to improve the City's approach to ADUs
