Presentation: Conceptual Economic Development Incentive Request for Battery Energy Storage System, 501 NE Strother Road; SMT Energy, applicant.
Body
Issue/Request:
This is a conceptual presentation pursuant to the City's Economic Development Incentive Policy for the request by SMT Energy (“Developer”) for the construction and operation of a battery energy storage system at 501 NE Strother Road, which is immediately adjacent and to the north of the Evergy substation which is located northeast of the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport.
Key Issues:
Evaluation of a request for incentives in the form of 75% personal property tax exemption for 10 years. Developer is not requesting real property tax abatement or sales and use exemption on the purchase of construction materials and equipment.
The attached presentation slides contain additional data and details about the incentive request and the City’s evaluation of the request.
