Issue/Request:
The grant has been awarded and the purpose of this ordinance is for the City Council to accept the grant award and authorize execution of the contract with the State of Missouri
Background:
The Missouri Highway Safety Program has offered grants to cities in Missouri to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes occurring on Missouri Roadways and reduce traffic fatalities and injuries. The City of Lee’s Summit has applied for and received grant awards through this program for the past 10 years.
The City applied for a Hazardous Moving Violation Project and DWI Enforcement Project for the period October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017; and,
The City Council passed Resolution 16-04 in March of 2016 supporting the application for grant funding and the City’s participation in the Missouri Highway Safety Program.
