Title

Appl. #PL2026-038 - COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT - Thoroughfare Master Plan; City of Lee’s Summit, Applicant

Body

Issue/Request:

The City Lee’s Summit has identified the need to improve the Scherer Parkway, Scherer Road, and Longview Boulevard corridors to accommodate anticipated growth in the southwest area of the community, including the planned development of four future schools and a park along the Scherer Road corridor. These improvements are intended to address projected traffic increases and ensure the roadway network can support future development.

To support this effort, the City partnered with Lochmueller Group to prepare an alignment study evaluating alternative roadway alignments for the three corridors. The study established design criteria, analyzed alignment options and potential impacts to adjacent properties, prepared opinions of probable costs, and updated the City’s travel demand model to the Year 2055 to help guide future infrastructure planning and right-of-way needs.

Staff is seeking adoption of the Scherer Road, Scherer Parkway, and Longview Boulevard Alignment Analysis study as a revision to the Lee’s Summit Thoroughfare Master Plan

Proposed City Council Motion:

I move to approve Appl. #PL2026-038 - COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT - Thoroughfare Master Plan; City of Lee’s Summit, Applicant
