Overview and discussion of a process to review and update the existing Economic Development Incentive Policy (EDIP).
Key Issues:
Discussion to outline the proposed review framework, desired outcomes, estimated timelines, and various stakeholder groups associated with the review and update of the EDIP.
Attached is a memo that outlines a proposed appointment process for two complimentary stakeholder groups to assist with the policy update process.
Background:
At the August 12, 2026 Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC), a presentation and discussion regarding the review and update of the EDIP was provided. The CEDC provided feedback and requested the review process be brought forward to the City Council as whole for discussion. This is a continuation of that discussion.
On February 19,2015 the City Council adopted Ordinance 7588 creating the Economic Development Incentive Policy for the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
On October 1, 2015 the City Council amended the policy by adoption of Ordinance 7725
On January 4, 2018 the City Council amended the policy by adoption of Ordinance 8322
On January 14, 2020 the City Council amended the policy by adoption of Ordinance 8801
On April 26, 2022 the City Council amended the policy by adoption of Ordinance 9804
On August 8, 2023 the City Council amended the policy by adoption of Ordinance 9723
