Issue/Request:
On August 11, 2026, the City Council and Planning Commission held a joint work session to discuss housing issues and opportunities in Lee’s Summit, including the proposed formation of a Mayor’s Housing Task Force. As part of that discussion, direction was provided to staff regarding the Task Force’s composition and areas of study. On September 1, 2026, the City Council directed staff to proceed with the appointment process, as outlined in the staff memo. Staff has prepared the attached resolution establishing the Task Force and its membership for Council consideration. If adopted by Council, will begin coordination of the first Task Force meeting, which is slated to occur in October 2026.
Proposed City Council Motion:
I move for adoption of a Resolution establishing the Mayor's Housing Task Force to study housing needs and opportunities in the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and to develop recommendations for consideration by the City Council.
