Key Issues:
Each year, the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners (JCBEC) uses certain City and Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation owned facilities as polling places. For 2026, JCBEC has requested the use of the Lovell Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center for elections to be held in April, August and November 2026 and February 2027.
Because JCBEC is a political subdivision, Sections 70.220 and 70.230, RSMo. apply, and require the City Council to approve the agreements before theAdministrator of Parks and Recreation can sign them.
Proposed Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for second reading of an Ordinance approving the 2026 Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners Poll Contracts for the Lovell Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center, and authorizing the Administrator of Parks and Recreation to execute the same by and on behalf of the City.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the 2026 Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners Poll Contracts for the Lovell Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center, and authorizing the Administrator of Parks and Recreation to execute the same by and on behalf of the City.
