The language in Section 4-13 B. specifically states applicants desiring to serve liquor. Section 4-13 B also applies to applicants desiring to dispense or give away liquor.
Staff recommends that the ordinance be revised to add language that includes applicants desiring to dispense or give away liquor. The addition of this language would clarify that all types of liquor license applicants are subject to Section 4-13 B of the Code of ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit.
Staff recommends approval of an ordinance amending Chapter 4, Alcoholic Beverages, Article I. In General, Section 4-13. Dispensing alcoholic beverages, issuance of liquor license near school or church. of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to reflect this change.
Background:
This amended language would help clarify that every liquor license applicant is required to seek City Council approval if they are applying for a liquor license within one hundred (100) to three hundred (300) feet of a school, church or other building regularly used as a place of religious worship.
