Title

An Ordinance approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri, through the Parks and Recreation Board and Jackson County Missouri for the "Trip the Light Fantastic: Bicycle ride through Christmas in the Park" event and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.

Body

Issue/Request:

Each year Jackson County Parks + Recreation hosts a family bike ride called “Trip the Light”. This event takes place at the Longview Lake Campground during Christmas in the Park. Due to the large number of participants, Jackson County Parks + Recreation is requesting the use of the Longview Community Center Parking lot during this event. This request bas been made in past years and has been accommodated without issues.

The event is scheduled to take place on the Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 5:30 pm- 7:00 pm. Parking spaces for Community Center Patrons will be reserved since the facility is open until 7:00 pm. The Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation Board approved the Intergovernmental Agreement at the September 25, 2025 Board meeting. The IGA requires City Council approval because it is an intergovernmental agreement.

Proposed City Council Motion:

I move for second reading of an Ordinance approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri, through the Parks and Recreation Board and Jackson County Missouri for the Trip the Light Fantastic: Bicycle ride through Christmas in the Park event and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.
