Issue/Request:
This request is expected to enhance the operational capability and resiliency of the fire department in responses to water rescue incidents and other calls for service on the water. This request is for the purchase of two specialty water craft which are specifically designed for responses to water incidents.
Key Issues:
Currently the fire department has one boat with limited capacity and capabilities. This also presents a challenge for timely deployment as a single resource takes significant time to deploy dependent on the location of the incident within the City. Adding two more boats to the fire department fleet will allow the department to position these resources nearer to each of the major lakes within the City, providing a significantly reduced response time and allow for expanded mission capabilities over what is currently available.
Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for second reading of An Ordinance authorizing award of Bid No. 2024-012 for the purchase of two (2) rescue boats for use by the fire department to Connor Industries, DBA Stanley Manufacturing in the amount of $310,188.00 and authorizing the City Manager to enter into an Agreement for the same by and on behalf of the City.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of An Ordinance authorizing award of Bid No. 2024-012 for the purchase of two (2) rescue boats for use by the fire department to Connor Industries, DBA Stanley Manufacturing in the amount of $310,188.00 and authorizing the City Manager to enter into an Agreement for the same by and on behalf of the City.
