Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving the award of RFP 2025-075 Leadership Training, to conduct Leadership Training and Executive Coaching for Management Team and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.


Key Issues:
More than half of Management Team is made up of Directors and Assistant City Managers that are new to their role within the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
The City Manager desires a well-educated and high functioning leadership team that has clear understanding of all aspects activity within the City of Lee's Summit local government.
Leadership development will build a cohesive team, deepen relationships, and align top leadership with the core mission, vision, values of the City as referenced in the 2019 Ignite Strategic Plan.
Executive coaching is critical to ensuring a common base of knowledge and understanding at an individual level to be a key contributor to the team and City as a key member of the organization.

RFP 2025-075 was developed and published. There were twenty-seven (27) responsive proposals received. An Evaluation Committee, made up of the City Manager, Assistant City Managers, and HR Director, evaluated the proposals and interviewed multiple firms that were short-listed. The top two firms were interviewed a second time.
The Committee recommends awarding the contract to Britton Strategies to conduct leadership development and training using a variety of assessments, meetings, interviews, and in-person engagements and activities over the course of year one and following up with individualized executive coaching over the second year.
