Issue/Request:
An Ordinance enacting new section 2-3 of the municipal code titled "Bonds for Officers and Employees" providing for the bonding of certain officers and employees. Section 14.6 of the Charter requires such bonds as the Council shall designate by ordinance. The council has the authority to set the sum of these bonds.
This ordinance is designed for the Council to exercise that authority and set amounts and require Public Official Bonds for city officials responsible for city funds. The ordinance also requires bonds for court personnel as requested by the Judges of the Lee's Summit Municipal Court. The city manager is authorized to obtain any additional bonds necessary to safeguard the city. The ordinance also instructs the City Manager to obtain any bonds requested by the Presiding Judge of the Lee's Summit Municipal Court for court personnel.

Properly safeguarding city funds and exercising the Council's authority and responsibility under Section 14.6 of the charter are addressed by this ordinance.
