Key Issues:
The APWA Accreditation Council has granted re-accreditation to the City of Lee's Summit Public Works Department for another four-year period. This achievement recognizes the department’s commitment to excellence in public works management and operations. The evaluation team recognized the department for three model practices: strategic planning, career development & succession planning, and snow and ice control planning.
Background:
-APWA accreditation evaluates public works agencies against industry best practices.
-The City of Lee's Summit Public Works Department was first accredited in 2004, and has sought re-accreditation every four years.
-Re-accreditation requires a commitment to continuous improvement and compliance with newly identified best practices.
-The department has been recognized with a total of thirty model practices since 2004.
