An Ordinance authorizing the approval of a sole source agreement for the purchase of three BMW traffic enforcement motorcycles for the total amount of $90,957.66 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all related and necessary documents.
Proposed Committee Motion:
I move to recommend to City Council an ordinance authorizing the approval of a sole source agreement for the purchase of three BMW traffic enforcement motorcycles for the total amount of $90,957.66 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all related and necessary documents.
Background:
Replacement of this unit is approved in the FY25 budget under the Fleet VERP (vehicle equipment replacement program) and is scheduled for replacement due to the existing unit is at the end of its anticipated lifecycle. The current units are now BMW R-1250 RT-P units and keeping the replacements the same as the old units would greatly aid the officers in transition to a new motorcycle, eliminating the need to do lengthily training. Engle Motors is the only licensed BMW dealer in the metro area that is capable of installing all of the police equipment onto the new bikes.
Timeline:
Start: August 2024 order _
Finish: Anticipated build and delivery 90 to 120 days.
