Discussion: Housing - Zoning Reform Discussion and Recommendations

Efforts continue to further the City's housing goals identified in the Ignite! Strategic Plan and Ignite! Comprehensive Plan.  On June 10, 2025 staff was directed to explore opportunities to improve process efficiencies and remove zoning barriers.  Staff began these discussions with the CEDC in August and is now returning to focus on opportunities within existing zoning procedures for process enhancements and efficiencies.  The goals of these recommendations is for a holistic approach to advancing housing goals, housing development, and partnerships. 

 

Background:

Staff is presenting recommendations to streamline zoning processes and increase zoning opportunities throughout various sections of the Unified Development Ordinance as directed by the City Council on June 10, 2025.
