Issue/Request:
Over the last three years staff has reviewed several of the City’s citizen boards, committees and commissions against the 2020 Ignite! Strategic Plan Critical Success Factors, and determined that in some instances duties and authorities of these boards, committees and commissions were overlapping or redundant. To increase efficiency and administrative support of boards and commissions, staff has recommended that the Arts Council, Beautification Commission, and Historic Preservation Commission be combined to form a new Cultural Commission. To accomplish this goal, it is necessary to repeal certain ordinances and resolutions in order to consolidate the Arts Council, Beautification Commission and Historic Preservation Commission into the new Cultural Commission. The proposed ordinance effectively forms the new Cultural Commission and sunsets the Arts Council, Beautification Commission and Historic Preservation Commission.
