Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving an agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Xybix for the purchase of dispatching consoles, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same of on behalf the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Key Issues:
The Joint Operations Facility will house the city's Police and Fire Dispatch Centers, as well as training rooms for each group. These training rooms may also be used by other entities in the future. The total number of dispatching consoles in 34. The Police Department recently purchased eight (8) dispatch consoles (BILL 22-260) which we will be able to reuse in the Joint Operations Facility. Moving those eight consoles is part of the work assigned in this contract. The remaining 26 consoles will match the existing eight units for standardization.
Each dispatch console is standardized with respect to equipment and furniture. The dispatching console allows the dispatcher to arrange the workstation to an individual preference. The equipment is designed to easily move so a dispatcher can stand or sit depending on preference. Climate control in each console can be specific to the individual dispatcher. This is important from an employee wellness standpoint over the course of a twelve hour shift.
Proposed City Council Motion:
I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving an agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Xybix for the purchase of twenty-six dispatching consoles and the relocation of eight dispatching consoles, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same of on behalf the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
