Title
Presentation: Lee's Summit Arts and Economic Prosperity Report
Body
Issue/Request:
This presentation is to provide an update to the Council of the key findings from the 2023 Lee's Summit Arts and Economic Prosperity Report.
Background:
The City of Lee's Summit Cultural Arts Division partnered with Americans for the Arts to conduct the Arts and Economic Prosperity (AEP) Report, an economic and social impact study of nonprofit and government arts and culture organizations and their audiences in the City of Lee's Summit. Americans for the Arts conducts this national study every five years to document the economic and social benefits of the nation's nonprofit arts and culture industry. From June 2022 through October 2023, Cultural Arts Division staff worked with arts and cultural organizations throughout the City to collect surveys from audiences and organizations. Audience surveys were collected at various cultural events throughout the City to gather information about patron spending patterns when attending a cultural event, as well as information about the social impact of cultural activities in our community. Organizations were surveyed and provided data on annual attendance numbers and operational expenses. Americans for the Arts compiled and analyzed this data and presented the City with the Arts and Economic Prosperity Report in October 2023.
