Title
A Resolution to adopt the 2021 Airport Master Plan Update.
Body
Issue/Request:
A Resolution to adopt the 2021 Airport Master Plan Update.
Key Issues:
• An Airport Master Plan is required to provide long-rang planning for the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport.
• The current Airport Master Plan is over 20 years old with the majority of all recommended projects being completed.
• On October 15, 2019, City Council authorized updating the Airport Master Plan.
• Phase 1 of the Airport Master Plan has been completed.
• The Board of Aeronautic Commissioners recommended to City Staff finalizing the Airport Master Plan and moving forward with presenting the finalized Airport Master Plan to the May Public Works Committee recommending adoption.
Proposed Council Motion:
I move for adoption of a Resolution to adopt the 2021 Airport Master Plan Update.
Background:
The existing Airport Master Plan is over 20 years old with the majority of the projects listed in the Master Plan being completed. On October 15, 2019, City Council authorized the update of the Airport Master Plan. The Master Plan update was split into two phases by the Federal Aviation Administration and State Aviation Department due to budget constraints. Phase 1 provides basic planning elements of a Master Plan such as: inventory, forecast, facilities requirements, alternatives and land use compatibility. Phase 2 will provide the FAA deliverables such as Airports GIS Survey, Aerial Imagery, Airport Layout Plan (ALP), and the Exhibit A Property Map.
