Issue/Request:
The City of Lee’s Summit has an existing ordinance regulating the discharge of firearms and weapons within the City limits and setting out certain exemptions. The City desires to amend Section 17-164 of the Code of Ordinances to update the terminology used to describe the weapons that are regulated.
The City also desires to amend Section 17-164 of the Code of Ordinances to the City to revise the process for persons seeking approval to participate in the controlled management and/or harvest of wildlife so that it is specifically authorized by the City Council.

I move to recommend to the City Council approval of Ordinance amending Chapter 17, Offenses, Article VI. Offences Against Public Safety, Division 2. Weapons Offenses, Section 17-164. Discharging Firearms or Weapons Prohibited within City; Exemptions of the code of ordinances of the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri to revise the provisions relating to the controlled harvest of wildlife and update terminology.
