Review of weather forecasting service contract
Key Issues:
Chairman Johnson requested a review of the City's weather forecasting service contract. Currently the City contracts with Weather or Not to receive tailored weather forecasts for the Lee's Summit area. These forecasts are used to develop operating plans for snow events and other community needs.
The Administrator of Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation had a discussion at the last Youth Sports Association dinner with the representatives present to discuss this topic. It was decided at that time that LSPR would research and review industry best practices related to inclement weather. Once that research is complete, it will be presented to the Youth Sports Associations for further discussion and to determine next steps, if any.
Committee Recommendation:
On July 2, 2018, the Finance and Budget Committee asked the City Council to review and request the Parks and Recreation Board to expand the scope of the current weather contract.
