Presentation & Review of Targeted Planning Areas & Economic Development Initiatives

Issue/Request:
Staff will be providing a high level review of the work performed to date since the creation of the Targeted Planning Areas as well as efforts taken towards enhancing the economic development environment in Lee's Summit.
Key Issues:
Staff felt it would be beneficial for the CEDC to be provided with an overview of work related to economic development that has taken place over the last 3 years including providing the CEDC with an update on activity taking place within Targeted Planning Areas.

Background:
Approximately three years ago, the CEDC and staff began to explore and pursue initiatives that would help spur economic development activities, or position the City of Lee's Summit well for future economic development opportunities. Much work has taken place and CEDC Chairperson Forte felt it would be beneficial for the new CEDC members to be aware of the work that has been completed and initiatives that continue to develop.
Attached to the packet is a powerpoint presentation that will be presented to the CEDC. Staff will be prepared for discussion and questions related to the work conducted thus far.
