Risk Management Board - Powered Paragliders (PPG) at Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport.

Issue/Request:
Due to the increase in general aviation activity at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport and the growing popularity of Powered Paragliders, PPG, operating rules need to be developed to minimize potential conflicts.
Key Updates:
• A committee comprised of Airport Staff and PPG pilots was formed to collaborate in the development of PPG operating rules.
• Potential risks were identified and scored for likelihood and consequence.
• Mitigation strategies were developed to minimize the likelihood of identified risks.
• Next steps include:
o Develop draft operating rules
o Complete FAA review
o Hold Airport Townhall meeting to discuss the proposed operating rules with the general aviation community
o Present final operating rules to the BOAC, PWC and CC in April.
