Body

Issue/Request:

An Ordinance approving Addendum No. 1 to the On-Call Agreement for Professional Engineering Services dated January 30, 2023 (RFQ No. 2022-030) between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Burns and McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., for Professional Engineering Services for AMI System Review, for a not to exceed amount of $120,438.00, and authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement for the same.

Key Issues:

The City of Lee’s Summit Water Utilities has had an ongoing program to implement radio read metering throughout the City (AMR - automatic meter reading).

The installation of the radio read technology will be complete throughout the system this coming year.

The radio read meters are providing the City and its customers increased billing accuracy, increased reading efficiency and other benefits.

City staff is interested in leveraging the AMR technology to improve customer services and satisfaction with increased accessibility and timeliness of consumption data to an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).

City staff asked Burns & McDonnell for a review of our AMI System and recommendations for future implementation.

This study will provide Water Utilities a road map for future AMI projects.
