Title

An Ordinance authorizing the renewal and use of a piggyback service contract (2025-005) between the Independence School District and ServPro of Lee's Summit for the renovation of the Old Water Operations building as a temporary fire station related to the replacement of Fire Station 1 in the amount of $993,432.78 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same. (PWC 10/12/26)

Body

Key Issues

•                     The Independence School District (ISD) procured this contract as per the rules and regulations of the State of Missouri; ServePro was awarded the contract.

•                     The City of Lee's Summit has executed a piggyback service contract (2025-005) for the same and it is up for renewal

•                     The demolition and replacement of Fire Station 1 requires temporary relocation of one fire brigade and Old Water Operations is an ideal location as it can house firefighters and apparatuses in a location that allows the brigade to continue providing services in its designated service area

•                     This project is funded by the 2023 NTIB bond program.

Propose Committee Motion:

I move to recommend forwarding for approval to the City Council an Ordinance authorizing the renewal and use of a piggyback service contract (2025-005) between the Independence School District and ServPro of Lee's Summit for the renovation of the Old Water Operations building as a temporary fire station related to the replacement of Fire Station 1 in the amount of $993,432.78 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

Proposed City Council Motion:

FIRST READING: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance approving the renewal and use of a piggyback service contract (2025-005) between the Independence School District and ServPro of Lee's Summit for the renovation of the Old Water Operations building as a temporary fire station related to the replacement of Fire Station 1 in the amount of $993,432.78 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

SECOND READING: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the renewal and use of a piggyback service contract (2025-005) between the Independence School District and ServPro of Lee's Summit for the renovation of the Old Water Operations building as a temporary fire station related to the replacement of Fire Station 1 in the amount of $993,432.78 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

Background

The Independence School District (ISD) competitively bid this contract as per the rules and regulations of the State of Missouri; ServePro was awarded the contract. The City of Lee's Summit has executed a piggyback service contract (2025-005) on July 16, 2024 for one year provisions for annual review and renewals to extend the contract

The City of Lee’s Summit Central Building Services and Procurement and Contracts Department have determined that renewing such contract is in the best interest of the public and best use of public resources and complies with applicable procurement policy and regulations. The demolition and replacement of Fire Station 1 requires temporary relocation of one fire brigade and Old Water Operations is an ideal location as it can house firefighters and apparatuses in a location that allows the brigade to continue providing services in its designated service area.

This project is funded by the 2023 NTIB bond program.
