An Ordinance approving Modification No. 1 to the agreement between the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and HDR Engineering, Inc. for professional engineering services for Transmission, Large Diameter Sewers, And Force Main Condition Assessment And Management Program (RFQ No. 2019-002) for an increase of $519,300.00 with an amended not to exceed amount of $2,045,680, and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.
Key Issues:
-The City and HDR Engineering, Inc., entered into an agreement dated December 12, 2018 (FRQ No. 2019-002) for professional engineering services for the Transmission, Large Diameter Sewers, And Force Main Condition Assessment And Management Program.
-Phase 1 made three recommendations for Phase 2 including internal and external condition assessment services for the 16-inch diameter PCCP Maybrook Road Water Transmission Main Interconnect.
-Phase 2 recommendations include an external only condition assessment for the 20-inch diameter ductile iron Velie Road Water Transmission Main Interconnect.
-Phase 2 recommendations include an external only condition assessment for the 30-inch diameter steel Independence Water Transmission Main Interconnect beneath the Dick Howser Bridge.
-The on-call construction contract with Wiedenmann Construction is anticipated to be used to complete Phase 2 for an additional cost of $161,000 to be requested under a separate ordinance.
-The increase of $519,300 plus the unused funding in Phase 1 of $203,771.76 totals $723,071.76 which will pay for Phase 2.
Background:
The Transmission, Large Diameter Sewers, and Force Main Condition Assessment and Management Program was divided into phases. Among other activities, Phase 1 completed assessments of the 30-inch PCCP water main from Bowlin Pump Station to the reservoirs and Douglas Street and Chipman Road, the gravity sewers under Lakewood Lake and the Tudor Road and Scruggs Road Force mains. Mains. Phase 2 will include assessments of the 16-inch Maybrook Road Water Main, the 20-inch Velie Road Water Main and a the 30-inch water main installed under the Dick Howser Bridge.
