Body
Issue/Request:
This request will increase our inventory of portable radios that will be used for replacement as needed, as well as provide the necessary radio equipment for the fire apparatus that are currently on order and anticipated to be received this summer.
Proposed Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for second reading of an Ordinance approving a purchase by the City of Lee’s Summit from Motorola Solutions for 12 new portable radios for the Fire Department in the amount of $105,230.52 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the same by and on behalf of the City.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving a purchase by the City of Lee’s Summit from Motorola Solutions for 12 new portable radios for the Fire Department in the amount of $105,230.52 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the same by and on behalf of the City.
Key Issues:
The Fire Department currently utilizes Motorola APX 8000XE model and style of portable radios for emergency operations. This request is to purchase 12 more of this style of portable radios for the Fire Department to replenish current inventory as other radios have been rendered out of service, or reallocated as needed to support emergency operations. This request will also serve to provide the needed portable radio equipment for the fire apparatus currently on order and scheduled to be received this summer and still provide adequate numbers of spare portable radios as to not deplete our reserve capacity.
Pricing obtained through the vendor is subject to the Johnson County Ks. cooperative purchasing contract 21810, which was utilized when the City upgraded the City's emergency radio system previously.
Impact/Analysis:
This purchase was budgeted for in the Fire Department's FY25 general fund budget. This request will provide necessary portable radio equipment for the Fire Department for current and those identified future portable radio equipment needs
Timeline:
Once approved, the order will be fulfilled by the end of FY25.
