Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving a Fixed Base Operator Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Midwest Avionics, LLC to operate as a Fixed Based Operator (FBO) and perform aircraft airframe/powerplant, avionics repair, maintenance, and inspection services at the Airport and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.
Key Issues:
• Midwest Avionics, LLC has operated out of Hangar 1 since 2018 and will be relocating to a new hangar once construction is completed.
• Midwest Avionics, LLC and the Airport have negotiated the terms and conditions of a Fixed Base Operator Agreement
• City and Midwest Avionics, LLC wish to enter into the Fixed Base Operator Agreement
Proposed City Council Motion:
I move for adoption of An Ordinance approving a Fixed Base Operator Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Midwest Avionics, LLC to operate as a Fixed Based Operator (FBO) and perform aircraft airframe/powerplant, avionics repair, maintenance, and inspection services at the Airport and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.
Background:
Midwest Avionics, LLC has been performing avionics maintenance and repair (located in Hangar 1) since 2018. Since 2018, the business has increased and they need additional room to continue growing. Midwest Avionics is currently in a partnership with LS Management Services, LLC (same ownership). LS Management Services, LLC is in the process of constructing a new hangar located on the North Apron and will relocate out of Hangar 1 into the new hangar when completed. This new hangar will provide additional space and room that enables Midwest Avionics to continue growing.
Impact/Analysis:
The continuation of an FBO performing avionics repair, maintenance and inspection will continue to attract customers from around the region for service that would have otherwise used another shop located at a different airport.
