Issue/Request:

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF MODIFICATION NO. 5 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH CRAWFORD, MURPHY AND TILLY, INC. FOR ONCALL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE AIRPORT (RFQ 2015-300) IN THE AMOUNT OF $376,596.01 FOR  DESIGN ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR TAXIWAY PAVING OF TAXIWAY ALPHA AND OTHER INCIDENTAL WORK.

 

 

 

 

Key Issues:

                     The approved Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport master plan provides for an ultimate runway length of 5,500 feet.

                     The earthwork to accommodate the new runway length was completed in the summer of 2016.

                     Bids for the runway pavement were received in May 2016.

 

                     Rehabilitation, strengthen and extension work of Runway 18/36 will be completed in the fall of 2017 .

                     This modification includes Design Engineering Services for Taxiway Paving of Taxiway Alpha and other incidental work.

                     The City of Lee’s Summit anticipates receipt of grants from the Missouri Highways and transportation Commission $338,936.40 to pay for these services.

                     Local matching funds of $18,829.80 5% of the project cost are required and are available from the Airport Capital Funds are available for the local match.

                      Staff received a letter from MoDOT dated October 19, 2016 notifying the City of a tentative allocation of $6,116,764.00 for the design and construction of this project.

 

 Proposed City Council Motion:

FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF MODIFICATION NO. 5 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH CRAWFORD, MURPHY AND TILLY, INC. FOR ONCALL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE AIRPORT (RFQ 2015-300) IN THE AMOUNT OF $376,596.01 FOR DESIGN ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR TAXIWAY PAVING OF TAXIWAY ALPHA AND OTHER INCIDENTAL WORK.

FOR ONCALL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE AIRPORT (RFQ 2015-300) IN THE AMOUNT OF $376,596.01 FOR DESIGN ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR TAXIWAY PAVING OF TAXIWAY ALPHA AND OTHER INCIDENTAL WORK.

Bids for the runway pavement were received in May 2016, with Emery Sapp and Sons being the low bidder. The runway paving project will be complete in the fall of 2017 and other incidental work.

 

This Modification is for Design Engineering Services for Taxiway Paving of Taxiway Alpha and other incidental work.

Recommendation: Staff recommends Approval of An Ordinance Authorizing Execution of Modification No. 5 to the Agreement with Crawford, Murphy and Tilly, Inc. for On-call Engineering Services for the Airport (RFQ 2015-300) in the amount of $376,596.01 , for Design Engineering Services for Taxiway Paving of Taxiway Alpha and other incidental work.

Committee Recommendation:  A motion was made by Commissioner Reeves, and seconded by Commissioner Stremming, that this Ordinance be recommended for approval to the City Council.  The motion carried unanimously 8-0 (Commissioner Waller "Absent").
